The Computer Overview puts a lot of information at the click of your mouse or trackpad. Learn the various features of the Computer Overview to make your use of Watchman Monitoring more efficient.
Computer Overview Summary
The Computer Overview consists of a System Summary with specifications on the monitored computer, integrations, technical specifications, model information, and reporting information.
The Actions menu in the Computer Overview allows you to quickly access the following functions:
- Notify at Next Report - Sends an email upon next check-in. Learn more...

Monitored Computer Overview
Quickly note the operating system of the computer with the Linux, Mac and Windows icons.
Directly under the Operating System icon is the Display Name. The Display Name defaults to the Computer Name and can be edited in the Edit tab > Display Name.
Under the Display Name is a link to the Group this computer is assigned. Clicking this link will display all computers in this Group.
Under the Group link, are three icons to indicate the overall status of the computer, Muted Plugins, and Expirations. Clicking the icon will take you to respective feature for review or editing.
Under the Status Icons is the Computer Description. The Computer Description defaults to First reported on... for an installed client or Redeemed by... for Enrollment Codes. Edit the Computer Description by clicking the pencil icon, or in the Edit tab > Description.
Under the Computer Description is a summary of the Last User, Computer Name (not the Display Name), Current Group, Serial Number, Product Description, and Integration identifiers (e.g. TeamViewer ID).
Clicking the Copy Specs button puts a similar specification summary in your clipboard:

The Integrations area provides quick links into various integrations for screen sharing, remote monitoring and maintenance (RMM), and documentation tools. Learn more about Integrations.
Tech Specs vary by Platform. Computer Demographic Alert Notifications can be configured to be alerted if the Computer Name, Group, Memory Configuration, Serial Number or Operating System (OS) changes.
Macintosh Tech Specs include Operating System, Maximum Operating System, Serial Number, Installed RAM (Memory), Maximum RAM, RAM Speed, Boot Volume Capacity, Boot Valume Usage, Processor, System MAC Address, SMC Version, FileVault Status, Flash Version, and a link to potential upgrades at Other World Computing.
The Visit OWC button links to upgrades specific to the computer model.
OS Alerts are also displayed under the current Operating System when viewing the Tech Specs for a computer record.
Windows Tech Specs include Operating System, Serial Number, Installed RAM (Memory), Boot Volume Capacity, Boot Volume Usage, Processor, System MAC Address, and Flash Version.
Linux Tech Specs include Operating System, Serial Number, Installed RAM (Memory), Boot Volume Capacity, Boot Volume Usage, Processor, System MAC Address, and Flash Version.
Apple Model Information
Apple Model Info includes Apple's Model ID, Apple's Description, Configuration, and estimated date of Manufacture. Only displayed for Apple Computers.
Reporting information provides information on the Monitoring Client installed on the computer. Information includes the Last Report (Last Check-in), Agent Version, Uptime of computer at last check-in, First Report, and the Watchman ID.
The Expirations section of the Computer Overview shows Expirations related to the computer. You can add an Expiration to this computer by clicking the New Expiration button. Learn more about Expirations.
From the Expirations Actions menu, you can edit an Expiration, and for those with GSX Integration, can queue AppleCare Expirations for a warranty refresh.
Alert Warnings will display when a Report Notification has been requested, a Duplicate Computer Record is found, or a computer is hidden.
Each Plugin Result under Plugin Details is a highly functional status area allowing for quick access to history, open tickets, plugin information, and actions that can be applied to the individual plugin.
These indicate a Plugin Status of All Clear or All Clear with an Associated Ticket.
- Clicking the Green Checkmark will take you to the Plugin History.
- Clicking on the Ticket icon will take you to that ticket in your ticketing system, to allow for closing the ticket.
This indicate a Plugin Status of an Informational Report being sent.
These indicate a Plugin Status of Warning Reported or Warning Ticket Associated Ticket.
- Clicking the Red Warning will take you to the Plugin History.
- Clicking on the Ticket icon will take you to that ticket in your ticketing system.
Clicking the Plugin Name will take you into the Plugin History.
Clicking the Plugin Support Question Mark (?) will allow you to view the Plugin Support Article, or Request Support. Learn more about the Plugin Support button.
Plugins that have been ignored will be displayed in this area. See Ignoring a specific plugin result for additional information.
Plugin Results which are not updated during current reports are considered Stale after 24 hours, and are displayed here. Use the Actions menu to acknowledge and clear these Stale results.
The Comments tab summarizes Machine Comments and Group Comments in one location. Learn more About Comments in Watchman Monitoring.
The History reflects changes made by Users, and emails sent by Watchman Monitoring, and is informational only.
You can edit identifying information about the computer including its Description, Display Name, and Asset ID.
- The Description will appear below the overall machine status icons and defaults to First reported on... for an installed client or Redeemed by... for Enrollment Codes. Learn more about Computer Description Editing.
- The Display Name is an alternate name used when displaying this computer record in the dashboard.
- The Asset ID is displayed in the Computer Specifications and on Group Reports.
Beacon Reporting can be enabled for the computer by sliding the switch to On. Set the Minutes allowed before the computer is considered offline which is the interval after which the computer is considered to be offline.
Alert on Next Report
Check to receive a one time report email the next time this computer reports. Checking this box is the same as selecting Alert At Next Report from the Computer Overview Actions menu. This will also enable an Alert Warning dialog on the Computer Overview.
Alert if Missing
Check to include this computer in the Daily Missing Computer Report when its record is not updated on schedule.
Ignore Missing Until
Set a date to temporarily exclude the computer from the Daily Missing Computer Report until a specific date.
Allowed Report Interval
You can set the number of days between status reports before being considered "missing". (Default is 7 days.)
Reset Watchman ID
Useful when the Monitoring Client software is copied to multiple computers. The server will trigger this reset automatically when it detects a migration. Learn more about duplicate Watchman IDs.
Remote Access Integrations
Add the LogMeIn Desktop Shortcut URL to enable one-click access to the computer.
Simple Help URL
Add the Simple Help Direct Connection Address to enable one-click access to the computer
Enter a username to be included in BlueSky links. The value entered here will override the company default.
Click Save to save any settings changes made to the Computer Record. Navigating away from the page will also confirm leaving the page, if settings changes have not been saved.
